Emma Cleal - "embracing the challenge"

Emma’s desire to progress, to enhance her skills, and to seek out new challenges has prompted her recent transition from Customer Services to Business Applications Manager in ICT.

Now managing and supporting the team responsible for the maintenance and development of all the department specific software, Emma works closely with suppliers, coordinates technical guides to obtain upgrades, and sources better software packages. Primarily, however, she supports colleagues in looking to the future and determining how best to improve their digital offering.

With projects in every service area, and a need to keep everything running and everyone happy- the importance of the role can be challenging, but Emma has embraced the challenge. Yet, it is not these projects but rather the little things like watching her team come together, blossom, and delight in achieving their personal milestones, that she takes the most pleasure from.

Having previously worked at a number of London councils, Emma has been pleasantly surprised by the refreshing atmosphere at EBC, and with all the opportunities she has been given to develop during her first 2 years here.

Due to her limited time in the role so far, she is still working on getting numerous projects across the finishing line, spurred on by the excitement of seeing her and her teams’ efforts finally come to fruition.
