Sarah is Property Portfolio Manager at Elmbridge, having been recently promoted from an Estate Surveyor, her role at EBC since January 2020. After working for 13 years from home as an independent valuer while her children were young, she was looking to get back into the office. “A job came up at Elmbridge and then Covid hit 10 weeks later!”
She said she was drawn to the role because “I wanted to get involved from a landlord’s perspective. As a consultant I noticed how many buildings were in disrepair and wanted to help utilise these spaces for everyone’s benefit.”
The Asset Management Property Services (AMPS) team has a large portfolio that they manage including community centres, sports pavilions, plus retail, offices and industrial spaces.
Sarah looks after Elmbridge’s property portfolio, which also involves both strategic property planning and responsibility for the day-to-day management of our properties.
Sarah, who has a degree in Estates Management, says the work is very varied and collaborative: “One day I might be dealing with a complicated transaction of an office in the morning and in the afternoon dealing with an encroachment of a gate into a recreation ground. I need to liaise with all the other teams in the council because my work touches everything the council does and it helps that it is a really, relaxed, friendly place to work.”
“I love my job because I get to use all my surveying knowledge and feel like I’m able to make a difference. It’s an amazing place to work, I wish I had moved here 20 years ago!”
