Who can apply

You can apply if you're an external not-for-profit organisation in the voluntary, community or faith sector, which is registered or unregistered with the Charity Commission.

Community Interest Companies (limited by guarantee) can also apply, as long as:

  • no single individual has significant control
  • there are at least 3 directors

Your organisation must be able to provide:

  • proof of its own bank account
  • audited or draft accounts for the last full financial year
  • copies of its safeguarding and equality policies

We can’t fund applications for:

  • individuals who are not part of an eligible organisation (see above)
  • Community Interest Companies (CICs) limited by shares
  • projects that benefit people outside Elmbridge
  • organisations with financial reserves greater than 12 months’ running costs
  • major capital projects or items – we may fund equipment costs up to 50% of the total grant requested
  • activities that are the responsibility of the statutory sector to provide
  • fundraising appeals or salaries of fundraisers
  • activities that promote religion or religious groups
  • animal welfare
  • medical research
  • commercial or business activities – social enterprises are not excluded
  • retrospective requests
  • projects that would be better suited to the Community Infrastructure Levy fund or another more relevant fund
