The UK Government is funding a further £421 million support fund for vulnerable households towards the cost of living for October 2024 to March 2025.
Elmbridge Borough Council has been allocated funding of £73,755 from UK Government via Surrey County Council.
Elmbridge has made additional funding available from its cost of living fund to increase the total funding available to £150,000.
Eligible households
The fund will support households that receive Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support on 27 November 2024. A household member must also meet one of the following conditions on 27 November 2024.
The household member is:
- working age and has a child aged under 16 in household (award category A)
- working age and has at least two children aged under 16 in household (award category B)
- pensionable age and not claiming pension credit or working age benefits (award category C)
- pensionable age, not claiming pension credit or working age benefits and has a child aged under 16 in household (award category D)
- pensionable age, not claiming pension credit or working age benefits and has at least two children aged under 16 in household (award category E)
Payment amount
We have identified approximately 2,000 eligible households. These will be paid based on the award category type they are entitled.

Receiving payment
We will make payments into existing bank account details using the information we gathered from previous schemes and Council Tax records.
You do not need to contact us if we hold correct bank details as payment will be made automatically.
Date of payment
Where existing bank details are held or new bank details are provided by 16 December and have passed pre-payment validation, we aim to make payment direct to the bank account on 20 December 2024.
If we receive new bank details between 16 December 2024 and 7 January 2025 or for payments credited to the Council Tax account, we aim to make payment on 13 January 2025.
A reference beginning H6HOLD will show on the bank statement.
Submitting your bank details
We do not hold bank details for all eligible customers. We will contact you by 6 December 2024 if we need you to submit bank account details to make the payment.
To submit your bank details, log into your online account and follow the steps below.
- In the top right-hand corner of the Your Account page, select submit a request.
- Click on Browse all forms or Find a Form and search for the form named Household Support Fund 6.
- Complete the details and submit.
