The UK Government is funding a further £421 million support fund for vulnerable households towards the cost of living for April to September 2024.
Elmbridge Borough Council has been allocated funding of £147,510 from UK Government via Surrey County Council.
Elmbridge has made available additional funding from its cost of living fund to increase the total funding available to £300,000.
Eligible households
The fund will support households that receive Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support on 16 June 2024. A household member must also meet one of the following conditions on 16 June 2024:
- receives a qualifying disability or carer benefit or element
- is a person of pensionable age
- is a child under 16
- receives 100% care leavers Council Tax reduction
Payment amount
We have identified approximately 4,870 eligible households. These households will receive a minimum payment of £50. Households that receive a qualifying disability benefit on 16 June 2024 will be paid a top up payment of £20, making the total payment £70.
Receiving payment
We will make payments into existing bank account details using the information we gathered from previous schemes and Council Tax records.
Customers do not need to contact us where we hold correct bank details as payment will be made automatically.
Date of payment
Where existing bank details are held and have passed pre-payment validation, we aim to make payment direct to the bank account on 31 July 2024.
Payments for new or amended bank details and any payments credited to the Council Tax account will aim to be made on 9 August 2024.
A reference beginning with H5HOLD will show on the bank statement.
Submitting your bank details
We do not hold bank details for all eligible customers. We will contact you by 13 July 2024 if we need you to submit bank account details to make the payment.
To submit your bank details, log into your online account and follow the steps below.
- In the top right-hand corner of the Your Account page, select submit a request.
- Click on Browse all forms or Find a Form and search for the form named Household Support Fund 5.
- Complete the details and submit.
