In Elmbridge, we encourage responsible dog walking. We want all dog walkers to enjoy safe and enjoyable visits to our sites by following a simple code of conduct.
Dispose of dog waste responsibly:
- clean up after your dog
- carry extra dog waste bags
- be prepared to lend a dog waste bag to those without
- kindly remind dog walkers to pick up after their dogs if they fail to do so
- dispose of dog waste in bins provided – any dual use (litter/dog waste) bin in green spaces will do
- if bins are full or you cannot find any, take dog waste bags home with you for disposal
Keep dogs under control and consider other visitors:
- make sure your dog's behaviour is safe around people, dogs and other animals
- respect dog-free areas
Look after the environment:
- follow sign instructions: don’t let your dog swim in ponds and rivers where indicated
- keep dogs to the main paths on countryside sites* during nesting season from March to September to stop disturbance to threatened bird species.
*Keeping dogs to main paths is important at all our sites but especially on heathland areas where there are rare birds like Nightjar, Dartford Warbler and Skylark.
