Walton Charity is a local charity based in Elmbridge, providing almshouse accommodation for people aged over 55. An almshouse is affordable housing owned by a charity and provided to those in need.
Almshouses are considered homes for life, offering safety and security in a thriving community that works to combat loneliness and isolation.
Residents pay a weekly maintenance contribution which includes water and heating bills and live in the property under a licence granted by the charity.
Walton Charity almshouses
Walton Charity owns two independent living almshouses – Mayfield and Fenner House – in Walton-on-Thames.
These almshouses are for people aged over 55 who want to live in a safe and supportive environment.
They offer self-contained flats with modern amenities, a large communal lounge, kitchen and gardens. Residents can take part in regular activities, including game nights, coffee mornings, a gardening club and exercise classes. Both almshouses are close to public transport.
A dedicated housing and maintenance team is available, along with a 24/7 on-call emergency system.
A hardship fund is also available for residents who need financial support.
