Did you know that next week is Meals on Wheels Week? This is a national event to highlight the importance of services that provide hot meals to vulnerable adults.
But this year it isn’t just about food, it’s about friends. For many older people, social isolation is as harmful to their wellbeing as failing to get a good meal. So next Friday on 3 November, Centres for the Community across Elmbridge will be hosting Friends Friday, an opportunity for people in the local community to enjoy a roast dinner and meet some new faces.
Each of the Centres runs a programme of activities and events, from exercise classes to art clubs, and staff and volunteers will be happy to chat to you about what their Centre has on offer, so you can look to make new friends who share your interests.
You can join in with Friends Friday at your local Centre for the Community on the 3 November, from 11.30am. This event will be happening at all Centres for the Community in Elmbridge except for Thames Ditton, which is closed on Fridays. If Thames Ditton is your local Centre for the Community, please ensure to join in the fun at the nearest Centre beyond your immediate local area.
To ensure we can provide enough lunches, please contact your local Centre by 10.30am on Friday if you would like to attend.
