From 25 November to 3 December, its National Tree Week! Join us for a tree planting day on 3 December in Walton-on-Thames.
We will be planting saplings at the following locations:
- George Froude Open Space, Sidney Road, KT12 2LU - 10am to 11am
- Thamesmead Open Space, Felix Road, KT12 2LD - 11.30am to 12.30pm
The events are part of our commitment to making our green spaces more sustainable and increasing biodiversity on our sites.
We all know that trees are great to combat pollution, reduce noise, reduce flooding risks and provide food and shelter to wildlife. However, it can be difficult for newly planted saplings to establish and when they do, they can suffer in the drought conditions that we have experienced in the last few summer seasons.
So as well as planting, we are calling out to residents and local communities to help where they can by keeping an eye on them, watering them when the weather is hot and reporting any problems.
We hope you will join us for the planting. If you come along, please wear appropriate footwear and bring your own spade.
If you have any questions, please contact greenspaces@elmbridge.gov.uk.
The team is looking forward to seeing you there!
