We have a Vision for a sustainable and thriving Elmbridge, and we are paving the way towards a greener future for our borough.
As part of this approach, we are aiming to increase biodiversity, enhance green infrastructure and adapt to climate change, and therefore an advice note has been published on how to encourage nature in all forms of development, from the smallest of extensions upwards. This will assist applicants, planning agents and developers on key matters arising through the Local Plan regarding biodiversity and nature within development sites.
The purpose of the advice note is to increase understanding on what is expected by the Council when considering nature conservation and biodiversity proposals, especially in the period prior to the new Local Plan / the Government’s mandatory BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) targets, that are being introduced from November 2023.
Elmbridge Borough Council is committed to boosting biodiversity and our natural environment throughout the borough and beyond, and this advice note is just one of the many initiatives to help make that happen.
