On Wednesday 22 November, community groups passionate about creating a greener future for our borough came together at the Climate Community Champions Conference, which took place at the Xcel Sports Hub.
The day involved networking, activities and informative talks from a range of speakers, including Councillor David Young, Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Sustainability at Elmbridge Borough Council, Dr Benjamin Gardner from the Institute of Sustainability at the University of Surrey and colleagues from Surrey County Council.
Councillor David Young commented: “The conference was an excellent opportunity for so many like-minded, focused and passionate people to come together and discuss their ideas on how we can take valuable steps towards a more sustainable future for all who live and work in Elmbridge.
“We received a lot of positive feedback and hope to plan more events next year. As we shape our carbon neutral plans for the future, the support and views from the community will prove invaluable.”
