Volunteering in Elmbridge is all about helping others. As we continue to promote the benefits of volunteering, 'John' shares his experience of making a difference.
"I started with Molesey Care in October 2013 as I had recently retired, and I wanted to help my local community. I enquired about the drivers role with Molesey Care and found out that volunteers were needed to drive older people to their doctors, hospital appointments, hairdresser or the local shops, and that drivers also receive expenses so they are not out of pocket.
"Once I started, I found out that I really enjoyed it. I was getting out in my car, and it really did help older people. Not only that, but I met new people and made new friends. I am so pleased I joined this organisation as Molesey Care have informed me that with my help and the help of the other volunteer drivers, we are really making a difference to older people in the local community."
Giving back to the community by volunteering really benefits all kinds of charities and organisations, supporting their growth and helping members of the community one step at a time.
'John' benefitted his community and himself simply by meeting others and building new friendships to make 'a real difference.'
