Are you eligible for Pension Credit and help with fuel bills?

Pensioners are being urged to check if they are eligible for Pension Credit, a weekly benefit to boost the incomes of older people.  From this year, pensioners who receive Pension Credit will also automatically receive the Winter Fuel Payment. 

Families, friends and neighbours are also encouraged to reach out to retired family members and friends to encourage them to check their eligibility and apply. 

The last possible date to make a successful backdated claim to receive the Winter Fuel Payment is 21 December 2024.

Until this year, everyone of pension age received the Winter Fuel Payment. From now it will depend on people’s incomes. To continue receiving it, you or you partner will need to claim a benefit like Pension Credit.
