Spring has arrived and with the brighter and warmer weather, there has never been a better time to refresh your exercise routine outdoors. Our Elmbridge wellbeing walks and cycle rides welcome anyone who would like to walk or cycle in a group to get active, benefit their mental wellbeing and explore the local area.
Elmbridge wellbeing walks
The Elmbridge wellbeing walks are free, short walks that take place across the borough. They are led by friendly and experienced walk leader volunteers.
We operate on a ‘just turn up’ basis (unless specified on the programme). There’s no need to book or plan a route. All you need to do is pull on your shoes and come join us!
There are walks taking place every day. You can choose from:
- regular weekly and monthly walks from the same starting point
- all-inclusive walk or wheel route from Xcel leisure complex - a steady safe route on the towpath, suitable for beginners and including rest stops
- special interest walks: historical, Claremont Landscape Gardens and Painshill Park and nature guided walks
- regular ‘walk and talk’ routes with our volunteers and in partnership with the Mary Frances Trust and Princess Alice bereavement groups
- nordic walks (slightly faster in pace)
More than just a health walk
Our walks are much more than just a gentle stroll or a bit of exercise. It’s a chance to unwind, meet new people and discover nature close to where you live. And when you’re finished strolling, many of our walks have a visit to a café at the end, just because we like to have a good chat with other like-minded people.

Elmbridge cycle rides
Our weekly group cycle rides operate in the same way as the wellbeing walks: they are free to join and there is no need to book in advance.
Routes vary in terms of time and length, but all rides are at a gentle pace. There is a stop halfway to rest, refuel and socialise so you will not be cycling constantly. If you fall behind, don’t worry – your group will wait for you at the next junction or safe place to stop.
