This month, volunteers from Elmbridge’s Centres for the Community attended a special thank you event at the Civic Centre in Esher.
Volunteers were joined by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Neil Houston, and were each presented with a commemorative badge as thanks for their support of the Centres. Attendees were then treated to tea, cake as well as a special thank you video which included interviews from volunteers talking about how their roles had benefitted them, as well as their local community.
Councillor Gill Coates, Portfolio Holder for Community Care, said: ‘Our dedicated team of hundreds of volunteers give so much of their free time every day to assist vulnerable people across the borough. We are so fortunate to have their support and hope this event goes some way to expressing the immense gratitude staff and clients feel for the help they provide day in and day out.’
A range of volunteering roles are available across our Centres for the Community, from answering queries at the information desk to delivering Meals on Wheels. For a full list of roles and how you can get involved, please visit our Community Services volunteering page.
