The school summer holidays are just around the corner. It is fantastic news for children but for parents it means 6 weeks of keeping children entertained with as many exciting activities as possible.
Luckily, help is at hand with our programme of fun-packed play sessions at various locations and parks around the borough. Even better, all activities are free.
There will be plenty to do and discover with activities tailored to different age groups. Children will have free reign to play games, get creative doing arts and crafts or just chill out and have a fun time with their friends. They will also have the chance to find out about nature or local history.
Some of our activities are drop-in sessions, others need to be booked to ensure we have plenty of crafts and materials to have fun with.
Here are the types of activities we have got planned:
Drop-in activities – no booking required:
Shout out! play sessions for 6- to 14-year-olds.
Have fun building dens, creating obstacle courses, playing games, and just hanging out with your friends.
Drop in stay and play sessions for 2-to-14-year olds
A wide range of activities available: crafts, games and plenty more. All families welcome.
Bookable activities (but free to attend):
Woodland and nature adventures
- Family woodland walk with fairy tale and storytelling
- Beast and bugs: mini-wildlife exploration
- Mud extravaganza messy fun
Elmbridge Museum explorers’ events:
- Lights, camera, action! an exploration of early films with role play and crafts
- Awesome architecture: look at local buildings and take construction challenges.
- National chocolate cookie day activities: investigate the museum collection of biscuit related artefacts, excavate a choc chip cookie, and play a game of wafer Jenga.
- World photography day: visit the museum’s historic photograph collection and take an outdoor photo challenge.
Cllr Simon Waugh, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Commercial Strategy, said, “We encourage families to come along to our various free play sessions across the borough this summer and make some memories. Our Play Development and Museum Teams have planned an exciting programme of activities to appeal to all age groups. So just drop-in for a couple of hours and enjoy yourselves.”
