Belle, a year six student from Notre Dame school in Cobham, has won this year’s Elmbridge Borough Council Junior Citizen poster competition.
At a prize giving from the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Neil Houston, Belle was awarded a £50 voucher as a reward for creative and insightful poster. Entitled, ‘Stay Safe’, Belle encourages young people to avoid alcohol, nicotine, and anti-social behaviour.
In April this year, Elmbridge Borough Council welcomed Belle and over 1,200 year 6 pupils, from 23 different schools to the Xcel Sports Hub in Walton-on-Thames to participate in this year’s Junior Citizen - a fun and engaging way for children to learn vital safety lessons focussed on water safety, antisocial behaviour, online fraud, railway safety, and drug and alcohol awareness.
We are grateful to our community partners who supported Junior Citizen 2024 and facilitated the safety sessions:
- PA Housing
- Barclays Bank
- British Transport Police
- South Western Railway / Network Rail
- Hope UK
- Places Leisure
Our thanks also to Child Safety Media, who managed this year’s Junior Citizen on our behalf.
