Having just celebrated Earth Day, we want to give a big shout-out to our amazing team of conservation volunteers who do a fantastic job on our local commons. They maintain local woodlands and heathlands, preserve habitats, protect rare species, encourage biodiversity, and make sites more accessible to the public.
Their work is often seasonal, and the spring and summer months are particularly busy with tasks like removing invasive plant species and creating areas of bare ground for invertebrates.
We are always looking for new members to join our team. If you care about the environment and want to make a difference, why not join our group of countryside volunteers?
Why volunteer?
- Improve local wildlife habitats and make a real difference to animals and plants.
- Meet new people who share an interest in the countryside.
- Stay fit, enjoy fresh air, and relieve stress through conservation work.
Who can volunteer?
Everyone can join, regardless of age, experience, or background. Volunteering outdoors is great for physical and mental health, and it is a chance to meet new friends, learn new skills, and benefit the local community. No experience is needed, just enthusiasm and some elbow grease. New volunteers are always welcome!
What to expect:
All tools and supervision are provided by countryside rangers. They will explain how to use hand tools safely and the reasons for the work being carried out. Most importantly, they will provide tea and coffee.
