We are delighted to welcome Dave Page on our next Royston Pike lecture for an informative and insightful talk about the local much-loved commons and nature reserves on our doorstep.
Dave has been a dedicated member of the Countryside Team at Elmbridge Borough Council since 1991. With over 34 years of experience managing Elmbridge's Commons and Countryside sites, Dave will share his extensive knowledge and passion for these precious natural habitats.
In this engaging lecture, Dave will explore the significant habitats that remain within Elmbridge, including heathland, grasslands, and wetland areas. He will talk about their historical uses, current management practices, and the challenges they face in the 21st century. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the nationally important Esher Commons, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Dave will also discuss local conservation work aimed at protecting rare and endangered species such as the Starfruit (Damasonium alisma), the Silver-studded Blue butterfly, and the Dartford Warbler. His insights will highlight the importance of these species and habitats, reminding us of the vital role they play in enriching our lives.
Join us for an opportunity to learn from Dave's wealth of experience and to appreciate the natural beauty and biodiversity of Elmbridge.
