Elmbridge Museum frequently partners with schools to make history engaging and educational through innovative and inspiring exhibitions.
One of their more recent collaborations was with students at St James C. of E. Weybridge, to explore life in prehistoric Elmbridge for their Elmbridge’s Early Settlers exhibition.
Students handled artefacts from the museum collection, gaining insights into Bronze and Iron Age life. They learned how metals like copper and bronze helped Bronze Age people clear land and grow crops, while iron allowed Iron Age people to make better tools and weapons, leading to a more aggressive culture.
Based on their observations, students created artworks to be displayed as part of the exhibition. Their creative artwork brought these ancient objects to life, offering imaginative interpretations.
Visit the display to see the students' work and learn about Elmbridge's early settlers.
