Healthy Ageing Event – line-up announced

Check out the local partners and health and wellbeing organisations who will be at the Healthy Ageing event at Xcel Leisure Complex on 1 October, 11:30am to 1:30pm. Come along to meet expert organisations, try free activity taster sessions, and access advice and support to help you stay active, independent, and well.

We’re excited to announce that the line-up of local partners and health and wellbeing organisations for our upcoming Healthy Ageing event has now been finalised! Join us at the Xcel Leisure Complex on Wednesday 1 October from 11:30am to 1:30pm and meet the fantastic organisations ready to support you in staying active, independent, and well.

What to expect:

  • Expert advice from a wide range of local health and community partners
  • Free activity taster sessions including walking football, mobility and balance classes, badminton, and table tennis
  • Information and support on topics such as assistive technology, falls prevention, counselling, legal matters, social isolation, disability support, carers support and more.

Meet our partners:

You’ll have the chance to speak with representatives from:

  • Age UK - planning for your future - power of attorney
  • Ashford and St Peters Hospitals - Macmillan cancer information and support
  • CHEER - older people support
  • Citizens Advice (Esher and Walton-on-Thames and Elmbridge West) - legal matters
  • The Counselling Partnership - affordable 1-2-1 counselling for adults
  • Elmbridge Borough Council - care and repair / Dementia Services / Connected Communities
  • Mary Frances Trust - mental wellbeing charity
  • Places Leisure - leisure centre activities
  • Compassionate Neighbours (Princess Alice Hospice)
  • Sport in Mind
  • Surrey County Council - Adult Social Care Engagement and Partnerships
  • Surrey Downs Health & Care (MSK - musculoskeletal issues)
  • U3A activities - lifelong learning, social connection, and personal development for older adults

Drop in for a chat or book a one-to-one advice session in advance by emailing wellbeing@elmbridge.gov.uk.

Get active free taster sessions

Places Leisure will be running free activity taster sessions throughout the event. The sessions include:

  • Walking football: from 11am to 12pm
  • Mobility, strength and balance: 11.30am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 1pm - low intensity class to mobilise the joints, gently strengthen the muscles and improve balance. Can be performed seated or standing so suitable for a range of levels.
  • Badminton and table tennis drop-in: 12.15pm to 1.45pm - casual session, equipment will be provided.
