Surrey Local Resilience Forum
We work with partners in Surrey to reduce the impact of incidents on residents, businesses, visitors andor the environment. The partnership is referred to as the Surrey Local Resilience Forum (LRF).
The Surrey LRF is a multi-agency partnership that includes, but is not limited to, representation from the local authorities, the emergency services, the Environment Agency and NHS. It has a significant role to play in responding to, and recovery from the effects of, emergencies and was formed to meet the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. The LRF aims to plan and prepare for local incidents and large-scale emergencies.
Supporting vulnerable people in an emergency
In the event of an emergency such as a fire, flood or blizzard, we work with partner organisations (including emergency services, Surrey County Council, mental health and social care providers) across Surrey to identify people who are known to these services, and who may become vulnerable during these events. We continuously strive to improve the way we collate this data, so that help and support can reach those in need.
Priority Services Register
If you or someone you know is vulnerable and might benefit from enhanced support in a utility outage, the Priority Services Register is a useful way of flagging this need to the utility providers so that support reaches the right people at the right time. For more information, see: Ofgem: Priority Services Register.
How we collate data for emergencies
We are using technology to automate the collation of data and to improve its quality and readiness in the event of an emergency while keeping it secure.
Data protection
Your information will continue to remain private and secure and will only be accessed if there's a possibility that your welfare may be compromised due to an emergency so that appropriate help and support can be provided. Working in this way will enable emergency staff to locate potentially known vulnerable people sooner.
