Longer term assistance
You will be entitled to longer term assistance if we are satisfied that:
- you are homeless
- you have a local connection
- you are in a priority group
- you did not become homeless intentionally
- you are not being referred to another housing authority where you have a local connection
You will receive a letter after the relief period. This will explain that we are satisfied with your circumstances and provide information on how we might assist you. This could include securing a private sector tenancy (in some cases the council may also be able to help with a rent deposit bond), hostels or a nomination to a housing association tenancy at a later date.
Sometimes, depending on the complexity of the case for example, we are not able to issue a decision immediately after the 56 day relief period. Our decision will be issued as soon as we can.
