Stage 2: The spatial strategy and the distribution of growth over the plan period, including the approach to the Green Belt and site allocations

Dated 18 October 2024, the Inspector has written a final letter that denies the council's request to proceed with the plan and advises that either the plan is withdrawn or a full report will be issued which will conclude that the plan is unsound.

The Inspector's final response letter to the LPA is available to view (document reference ID-022).

On 11 September 2024 the Inspector issued her interim findings (document reference ID-21) after Stage 2 of the Local Plan Examination. The Inspector found the draft Plan unsound as submitted but that it may be capable of being made sound through main modifications. However, at this time the Examination will not be progressing to Stage 3.

The council issued its response to the Inspector's Interim Findings Letter on 1 October 2024. The council's full response is available (document reference COUD09 - COUD012).

The Stage 2 hearings will be held over the following four weeks (inclusive of reserve days):

Matter 9: site allocations

The Inspector confirmed an extension to the council's deadline to respond to some issues and questions under matter 9 - site allocations of Stage 2 of the Local Plan Examination hearings. The deadline will now be close of play on 20 May 2024 for these issues.

Please note Matter 9 statements covering questions 8.26 to 8.51 will be published following the deadline of 20 May for sessions taking place w/c 17 June 2024.
