Electric vehicle (EV) charging points have now been installed in the Churchfield Road car park in Weybridge and the Civic Centre car park in Esher, as part of our programme to install EV charging points in our main town centre car parks.
There are four fast 11-22kW EV charging points in each car park. Each twin charger provides a maximum 22kW to one vehicle, or 11kW to two vehicles when both sockets are in use. The chargers operate on the Mer network with a tariff of 30p per kWh.
Cllr David Young, Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, is delighted to see Churchfield Road car park and the Civic Centre car park join Hollyhedge car park in Cobham in getting EV charging points: “These installations help to improve access to EV charging points in Elmbridge and support our residents with switching to EVs. This is another positive step towards improving local air quality and reducing carbon emissions.”
Work will continue on expanding the network; Drewitts Court car park in Walton-on-Thames, will be the next car park to benefit from the installation of EV charging points. You can find out more about the programme on the Elmbridge website.
We are working with partners, including Surrey County Council (SCC), to help expand the EV charging network where appropriate.
