Key projects
In year 1 we moved closer to achieving our Vision by delivering on key projects:
We committed over £700k to a refurbishment programme for Hurst Pool to extend the life of the pool while considerably improving the customer experience and the site’s impact on the environment.
We reviewed our approach to parking provision to ensure it meets the need of local communities by introducing parking discounts and increasing the number of electric vehicle charging points.
We launched our Green Fleet Strategy to decarbonise our vehicles with 8 new electric vehicles in use so far.
We increased the temporary accommodation by delivering 15 self-contained additional units within Elmbridge, meaning less reliance on out of borough accommodation.
Activities to support local residents and businesses
We delivered a number of activities designed to support our local residents and businesses, including:
Providing £350k in cost-of-living support to community groups and charities in addition to our ongoing funding support for our local voluntary, community and faith sector organisations.
Launching the Cobham Business Improvement District, supporting them with upfront funding from their BID levy to ensure local businesses and the village centre continue to thrive.
Submitting our draft Local Plan to the Planning Inspector, creating a pathway to a sustainable and thriving Elmbridge.
Leading the way in Surrey with a ‘Respect the Water: Drowning Prevention Plan’ to reduce the number of water incidents in the borough.
Aiding Afghan and Ukrainian nationals seeking shelter in Elmbridge by providing temporary accommodation for those in need.
Launching the Green Business Boost grant scheme to support local businesses with becoming more sustainable with over £30k of funding allocated to 6 businesses so far.
