Vision - Working in partnership

Successfully delivering the outcomes set out in this Vision cannot be achieved alone. Elmbridge has always thrived on collaboration, and as we work towards local government reorganisation, partnership working will remain essential to our success.

Other partners

In this Vision, we have set out what we believe is important for our residents and our future success. In doing so, we seek to collaborate and co-create with other organisations that support local services so that together we can make the greatest possible difference.

So many of the things which support the quality of life of our residents also rely on collaboration with other organisations such as local businesses, community safety partners, NHS bodies, voluntary sector and faith organisations, as well as our communities and residents themselves. We will continue to nurture our connections with those who will help to achieve the best for our residents in the final year of our Vision.

Housing Associations

We work with partners to make sure new affordable homes are built in Elmbridge, to help meet the needs of local people who cannot afford to rent or buy in the private market.

Neighbourhood Area Committee Pilot

Local government reorganisation presents an opportunity to strengthen links with residents by boosting local community engagement. Elmbridge has been supporting Surrey County Council to deliver their Neighbourhood Area Committee pilot in East Elmbridge. Neighbourhood Area Committees aim to bring people together and create opportunities for local collaboration to understand key local issues, champion collaborative action and promote preventative activity.

Claygate Parish Council

Claygate Parish Council is the only parish council within the borough. It provides a local voice for Claygate village, creating opportunities for consultation and for residents to take action to improve community life. As a recognised tier of local government, the Parish Council plays an important role in representing Claygate’s interests and works in close partnership with both the borough council and county council.

Surrey Police

Surrey Police are a key partner, as they are primarily responsible for keeping those who live and work in the borough safe. However, the council also has responsibilities for the safety of its residents too. Therefore, working with Surrey Police, and supporting them during their period of change, to deliver community safety initiatives is paramount to achieving our Vision.

NHS and Integrated Care Boards

Integrated Care Partnerships, which are run jointly by the NHS and Surrey County Council, are a broad alliance of partners who all have a role in improving local health, care and wellbeing.  We want to improve the wellbeing of our residents so support the work of the partnerships to ensure the best outcomes through a joined-up approach. We are especially mindful of how change within the NHS might impact residents so that we can provide extra support where we can.

Voluntary, community and faith sectors

We have very close partnerships with those from our vibrant voluntary, community and faith sectors (VCFS) within the borough because they are vital in helping our residents who are in need and fostering the strong sense of community spirit found throughout the borough. Working with the VCFS and providing grant funding for them has been essential in supporting people through the rising cost of living, making sure that support is targeted to those who need it most.

Network of local residents associations

Across the borough we have a thriving network of local residents’ associations. These voluntary community groups work to improve the lives of those they represent by providing a structured way for residents to raise local issues. Recognised associations can act as a key point of contact for us to gather feedback on services and gain better understanding of community priorities.
